Byetta Attorneys

Byetta (exenatide) is a drug used by patients with diabetes to help control blood sugar levels. Used by patients with type 2 diabetes, Byetta helps your pancreas produce insulin more efficiently. The drug is administered as a subcutaneous injection, usually in the upper thigh, stomach area or upper arm.

Approved on April 28, 2005, Byetta, manufactured by Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc., is not approved for use in patients with type 1 diabetes or for patients who are in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis. Also, Byetta is not a substitute for insulin in patients whose diabetes require insulin treatments.

Byetta has been linked to hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis in some patients; some of whom have died due to the medication. Between October 2007 and August 2008 6 cases of hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis were reported. All of the patients required hospitalization and two of the patients died.

If you or someone you love has suffered serious harm as a result of taking Byetta, you may be eligible to seek compensation, including medical bills, lost earning capacity, pain and suffering, and more.
